This combo of a floaty, loose peasant dress paired with sneakers got me through most of my days back home in Toronto last week. I could not believe how hot it was – I guess a few years in Vancouver make you forget about humidity and temperatures above 30 degrees. This dress was perfect for the scorching heat, since it barely touches the body and is made of such light, loose cotton.
It might not be one of the typical ways to wear a peasant dress, but the mix of girlie and athletic is something I have seen a lot of in street fashion this summer. Though sneakers might not be the best choice in a heatwave, I did so much walking that they really saved me. Key to keeping you comfy are those little no show socks. Pick ones with silicon gel to make sure you’re not adjusting them all day.
I just happened to be wearing Stan Smiths while shopping for this dress, and the contrast sold me even though it’s a little prairie girl. Cool reflective shades also help complete the look! It was a good reminder to switch up the accessories if you’re having trouble outfitting a piece. You don’t need a fashion blog to play around with different elements in your closet and see what you can come up with!
